9/25/20 ~ Teen Spirits; Grande Golfer; and Payne in the ass
5~ Best Nirvana Songs
Drain You
All Apologies - 1 and 2 best summarize Nirvana as a whole, especially the latter, all his contradictions he wanted both in person and in sound.
On A Plain - The bridge to this song might be my favorite 28 seconds of music ever.
Lounge Act - Side one of Nevermind made people buy it, side two was the best songwriting they ever did.
Pennyroyal Tea

Big Daddy Brings the Big Stick - Let’s get this out of the way…Congrats to Bryson on the US Open victory, he dominated the course and proved many of us wrong, including (audible vomiting) myself. Doing it his way and bludgeoning a course that humbled the worlds best deserves props. Way to go Grande Golfer! Excuse me while I go shower this stink off now…
Winged Foot Up Your Ass! - Well the field certainly got slapped around this year at Winged Foot, but the winner was not 8-over like I had expected (thanks BDC). Matt Wolff shot a 65 and played out of that hellish rough the whole time, so maybe we need courses that are just all rough. Maybe WF was more bark than bite, especially after all the roughporn in the lead up. What were your thoughts? Did it disappoint? Would you rather have the winner over or under par? What is your favorite major?
Daaaa Match - So the original “Match” was an amazing idea that maybe had some virginal issues with how it was pulled off. That said, the idea was intriguing and the format with slight tweaks has been tried a few different times up until now. The broadcasts can still be a bit bumpy and awkward at times, but overall I am a big fan of these events. Especially this week at the Payne’s Cup the player jabs were incredible. It continues to make the players more down-to-earth and relatable. The “gentleman’s game” snobbery is replaced with the reality of JT telling Rory it’s ok to say “fuck” because they are on a 5 second delay; or Rory answering the challenge of some random guy from the crowd with a massive drive. Give us more of these, bring in more guys, different matchups, and high stakes. I am all in, and I’m sure it will only get better. Rome wasn’t built in a round.
A Walk Through the Valley - Payne’s Valley looked AMAZING! How bad did you want to play that course as you watched the match? Another benefit of these side charity matches is showing us different courses, and often better courses, than we see on tour every week. There are so many incredible tracks around the world that simply don’t have the infrastructure to host big events. They are typically so much more aesthetically pleasing, than TPC Boston for instance, and make you want to seek them out to play there. Having the match format, where the concern is not about huge galleries, is allowing us to see more of these courses and can only help spread the game. I know I am already pricing out a trip to Big Cedar with the guys. Now if only the US made all its courses more accessible like they do in Europe, but I guess thats a topic for another day.
